Understanding the Chilling Story of Tin & Tina, Netflix's Terrifying Film
Horror fans now have a new option on Netflix. Released this year on the red streaming platform, the Spanish film Tin & Tina has been haunting its way into the top 10 most-watched movies on the service with its bizarre tale of a couple and their adopted children, who lend their names to the film.
Below, we gather some interesting facts about the film, including a familiar face for Netflix fans, and what the heck happened in that ending:
What is the story of Tin & Tina?
Set in 1980s Spain, the film follows the couple Lola and Adolfo. Everything seems perfect in their lives as they await their first children until Lola suffers a miscarriage, leading her to question her own faith. Plunged into depression, the couple decides to adopt a pair of twins, Tin and Tina, from a local orphanage. Little do they know that the children's strict religious upbringing will become a problem, with the little ones obsessed with taking the biblical scriptures literally, no matter how cruel and violent they may be.
Cast of Tin & Tina
The film features Jaime Lorente, known as Denver from La Casa de Papel (2017-2021), in the role of Adolfo. This is the actor's third collaboration with the streaming platform, as he also appeared in the first two seasons of Elite. Milena Smit, from Parallel Mothers, portrays Lola, with child actors Carlos González Morollón and Anastasia Russo as Tin and Tina.

Explaining the Ending of Tin & Tina
[Spoiler zone for Tin & Tina ahead]
Throughout the film, Tin and Tina make the couple's life a living hell, even after Lola manages to become pregnant and give birth to a biological child. In one sequence, the twins attempt to "baptize" the baby, but always with the ambiguity of whether the children are truly evil or just replicating what was hammered into them during their strict, fanatical upbringing at the orphanage.
Accident, divine punishment, or murder?
Tin and Tina are eventually returned to the institution, but the tranquility of Lola and Adolfo doesn't last long. During a storm, the patriarch gets electrocuted while trying to fix the antenna on the roof of the house. Engulfed in flames, Adolfo falls through the house, setting it on fire in a brutal death. Lola panics but manages to save herself and the baby by regaining her faith.
While there are hints that Tin and Tina may be behind the "accident" that claimed Adolfo's life, the orphanage director assures that the children never left the institution, stating that Adolfo was struck by lightning. It's up to the viewer to decide whether it was the duo's doing or a divine punishment for the couple. Lola then sets off on a new life, with Tin and Tina in tow.
