Greta Gerwig, from Barbie, reveals fear of directing The Chronicles of Narnia
The filmmaker confirmed her involvement with Netflix's films and revealed the truth: "I'm scared."
After the huge success of Barbie, Greta Gerwig has another big project on her hands: directing a new film for The Chronicles of Narnia — and it's keeping the filmmaker up at night.
All about the new Barbie movie In an interview on the Total Film podcast, Gerwig stated that she hasn't started working on the adaptation of C.S. Lewis' work for Netflix, in part because she's feeling the pressure of the task:
"I haven't even begun to deal with the idea, but I'm already scared, which is a great starting point. I think being scared is always a good sign. Maybe when I stop being scared, I'll think, 'I should do this next.' But no, I'm terrified. It's extraordinary and exciting."
The Chronicles of Narnia follows four English children who discover a fantastic world inside their wardrobe, filled with intense political conflicts, an evil sorceress, and a talking lion. The original book was published in 1950 and already spawned a trilogy of films by Disney in the 2000s.
There are no additional details about Netflix's version of The Chronicles of Narnia. Greta Gerwig is set to write and direct two films for the streaming service, with no release date yet.
