Arcane Comes Back in Late 2024
Riot Games, in collaboration with Fortiche Animation, is rumored to be launching the much-awaited sequel season sometime next year.
When "Arcane" graced the screens via Netflix in 2021, it was perfectly timed, captivating both fans and critics. Rooted in the world of Riot Games' beloved MOBA, League of Legends, the series garnered immense acclaim for its stellar animation, storytelling, and voice acting. Given Riot's evident intentions to diversify the League universe through various spin-offs, the announcement of a second season didn’t take fans by surprise.
At Tencent's recently held Video V Vision conference, a slide teasing "Arcane" hinted at its return in the winter of 2024. Enthusiasts, drawing parallels, are speculating a release around November, reminiscent of its inaugural season on November 6, 2021. This timeline would harmoniously align with the 15th anniversary of the iconic game League of Legends, which was initially introduced on October 27, 2009. Pairing the release of "Arcane's" next season with this significant game milestone could be a strategic move.
So far, details about the sequel remain as mysterious as the silence surrounding Silco's fate. Riot's CEO, Nicolo Laurent, shared some insights in April, stating that the animation team at Fortiche is "on track." He further expressed that while they didn't foresee the enormous success of the debut season, work on the sequel would have commenced sooner had they anticipated the overwhelming response. "We hadn't expected the first season to take off the way it did. If we'd predicted that, we'd have kickstarted the second season sooner," Laurent explained. This miscalculation implies fans will need to wait a bit longer.
Previously, the creative minds behind Arcane, Christian Linke and Alex Yee, hinted that the forthcoming season would delve deeper into Jinx's (portrayed by Ella Purnell) past, emphasizing her bond with Ekko (voiced by Reed Shannon). The narrative will predominantly revolve around Jinx, Vi (Hailee Steinfeld), and Caitlyn (Katie Leung). As for what else is in store, such as the introduction of new characters or regions and the overall trajectory of the series, fans will have to eagerly watch this space over the upcoming months.
For those looking to revisit or introduce friends to the world of "Arcane", the first season can be enjoyed on platforms like Kosmi, allowing friends to watch together online.
